Results will only be given directly to the patient concerned, unless the practice has had written consent from the patient allowing us to inform a 3rd party
All test/scan results are available after 2 pm every weekday.
IF THEY HAVE BEEN REQUESTED BY THE HOSPITAL DOCTOR YOU MUST RING THE HOSPITAL DIRECT TO GET THE RESULTS AS WE ARE NOT IN A POSITION TO COMMENT ON THESE TESTS.
Blood Test Results:
Blood test results can take up to a week to return to the practice. It is the patient’s responsibility to ensure they telephone for their results a week after the test is taken. (PLEASE ENSURE WE HAVE YOUR CORRECT CONTACT DETAILS AS WE MAY NEED TO CONTACT YOU). Bloods are taken every weekday mornings.
Urine Results:
Results for urine samples which have to be sent to the lab can take up to three days to return to the practice. Any that are dipped at the surgery will be available the same day. If treatment is required you will be contacted by the practice. Urine pots are available from reception. It is your responsibility to contact the practice for your results.
Pregnancy results will only be given to the patient concerned and not to a 3rd party
Swab Results:
Swab results can take up to one week to be reported on by the hospital. It is your responsibility to contact the practice for your results.
Smear Results:
Smear results can take up to six weeks to be reported on. Results are sent to you by Cervical Screening Wales. If there is a problem, the hospital will write to you with a follow up appointment. The practice will receive your results the same time as you do.
X-Ray results:
X-ray results, which have been requested by the practice, can take 7 – 10 days to return to the practice. It is your responsibility to contact the practice for your results.
Please be aware if your results come back abnormal the practice may need to contact you. Please ensure the practice has up to date contact details for you as this could mean a delay in you having the correct treatment
