Please support our practice flu clinics this year and get vaccinated at Panteg Health Centre if you are eligible

Like all other GP Surgeries, we rely on funding from each flu jab we give to help cover running costs and to keep the practice viable, sustainable and allows us to maintain services. This is even more important currently due to the lack of funding and investment by Welsh Government

Every single flu jab you have elsewhere means loss of funding for your GP surgery, which puts us even more at risk. You might be told by other providers that they are giving flu jabs to help ease your GP’s workload – this is not the case – we are more than capable of administering thousands of flu jabs with military precision each year as we have been doing for decades.

Therefore, please support your local surgery by having your flu jab with your GP Practice.

We know that other providers like pharmacies and supermarkets offer flu jabs to patients and there is nothing wrong in deciding to have your vaccine in this way. We will be notified and it will be recorded in your medical records

Ultimately by having your flu jab with your GP Practice, you are ensuring that crucial resources stay within your GP surgery to enable them to improve their services and remain sustainable.

Updates to Appointments & Care Navigation

From 1st May 2023 any patient requesting an appointment will all have to be care navigated by the reception staff.

Our GPs have asked our team to ask all patients a few questions about why they are calling.

This will help us to direct the patient to the right person to help, which might not always be a GP. Patients do not have to give this information, but it will help all patients to be seen more quickly and to get the right care when they need it. We will need a reason entered for the appointment for both routine and on the day appointments.

Appointments will be released from 8.30 through to 2pm, with no midday call back.

Patients are being advised to call back after 2pm to receive test results.

We will not accept house calls after 12 noon, after that time, calls will be put on for the following working day.

Shortage of Appointments

You may be aware that we have less appointments than usual. This is due to the recent retirement of doctors. Priority will be given to under 16s and patients with urgent medical needs.  We would be grateful if you could show some consideration to our team during this time, which we realise could also be difficult for you.

We are working very hard to recruit new GPs but as there is a national shortage of GPs this may take some time.

Branch Surgery ~ Permanent Closure

The Branch Surgery at Maendy Way, West Pontnewydd will permanently close at 12:30pm on 1st July 2022.

All patients will remain registered with the practice but will need to attend the main site at Panteg Health Centre in Griffithstown for any face to face appointments.

Any prescriptions or paperwork that is not collected prior to the above date will need to be collected from Griffithstown.

All services at the main surgery will remain the same.
